Cappadocia University’s efforts regarding the minimization of the impacts of collegiate life, educational activities and research-development initiatives on the natural and cultural texture of the region, as well as those regarding cultural sustainability and the preservation of biodiversity at the global, national and local levels are planned and implemented under the Cappadocia Bio program. The main activity areas of this program are:
- Taking the necessary measures to ensure that the impacts of collegiate life, educational activities and research-development initiatives on the natural and cultural texture of the region are minimized
- Attributing importance to cultural sustainability in educational, research and social contribution activities
- Taking the necessary measures, and carrying out and supporting projects that support local traditions, contributing to their transfer to the next generations, protecting Turkey’s cultural heritage, and particularly that of Cappadocia, as a unique example of cultural heritage in the world
- Designing and constructing new buildings and facilities in accordance with the natural and cultural features of the region
- Using locally supplied, recyclable or used materials for the construction of new buildings
- Carrying out environmental and social impact evaluations for new buildings, and designing the buildings accordingly
- The restoration of buildings and structures in the region that are in need of protection and restoration, thus contributing to cultural heritage
- Organizing initiatives to support the street animals and other living entities on campuses in collaboration with local governments, NGOs and student communities
